Omis Riviera is known for its numerous pebble and sand beaches. The sandy public beach in Omis, with its many restaurants, cafes and stores, is nearly a kilometer long and its warm, shallow waters are great for children's play. The entire Omis Riviera is known for fresh water springs, the best example for this is the place Vruja, a cove on the eastern outskirts of Omis riviera, located between Pisak and Brela. This is arguably the most beautiful spot on the entire mainland coast of central Dalmatia, with several magnificent pebble beaches and large freshwater springs that keep the sea water cool even in the hottest summer months.
Beach Velika Plaza (The Big Beach)
This is the most popular beach on Omis Riviera. The beach is situated in the very centre of the town of Omis in the part of town named Punta, and it is easily reachable with just few minutes walk from most of the apartments in the town of Omis. This 700 metres long sandy beach is ideal for families with small children and young people - it offers lot of activities such as volleyball, football, windsurfing, jet-ski, many bars, showers, toilettes, possibility of renting parasols and lounge chairs and much, much more. The beach is filled with tamarisk and pine trees, so there is abundant natural shade there. The beach is oriented towards south, and it soaks in sunshine during the entire day, from early morning until late afternoon. Large stone pier to the west from the beach protects it from prevailing western summer winds. Located on the mouth of Cetina river, and created by its fluvial sediments, this sand beach is probably one of the best and most popular sand beaches in Croatia. The entrance to the sea is very shallow, and one can walk hundreds of metres from the beach. The sea is abundant with fish and shells which makes this are very interesting for snorkelling. On the western part of the beach and on the large pier, the sea water is always few degrees colder, due to vicinity of the river Cetina and its cold waters which is particularly nice during hot summer days. However, since the water on the beach is very shallow, during sunny spring and autumn days it warms quickly, so the water is always somewhat warmer here, making it the perfect spot for opening and the closure of the swimming season. Paid public parking can be found in the vicinity. The beach is suitable for disabled persons, with a lift for easy sea access on a small pier on the eastern part of the beach. The beach gets very crowded in main summer months, but on the stone pier it is always possible to find some peace and intimacy.
Beach Brzet
The Brzet beach is situated right next to Slavinj beach, 15 minutes walk from the centre of the town of Omis, and half way between Nemira and Omis. This beautiful pebble beach with lots of natural shade is probably the most popular beach in Omis for those who prefer pebble beaches and thick pine tree shadows. It is more than 400 metres long, orientated towards west, with beautiful sunsets and many bars and restaurant in vicinity. The beach is located below Hotel Brzet, and parking can be found on hotel parking ground. There are showers on the beach, and possibility of renting parasols and lounge chairs. The sea is perfectly clear here, and very interesting for snorkelling. It is very popular among families with small children since the entrance to the sea is shallow but mainly because there is lots of natural shade, especially in the first half of the day. It is easily accessible by car, and it is located just few stairs below the road, without much traffic. In the immediate vicinity of the beach there are several restaurants and beach bars, which makes this beach very popular among tourists and local residents as well. The beach can get very crowded in busiest summer weekends, but it is always possible to find nice spot and enjoy beautiful and clear sea, shiny pebbles, hot summer sun, views of town Omis and sound of countless crickets chirping in the pine tree canopy above your head.
Beach Slavinj
Slavinj is situated 10 minutes walk from the centre of Omis. It is relatively small pebble beach, under the shade of ancient pine and tamarisk trees. It marks the beginning of the stream of beautiful beaches that stretch for more than a mile, from Omis all the way to the settlement of Nemira. Located below main road and few dozen metres from Franciscan monastery from 18th century, this beach is one of the oldest bathing spots in Omis, and it is primarily used by local population. There are two beach and snack bars in the vicinity, with the possibility of renting beach chairs and parasols. Some natural shade can also be found on the beach. The pebbles on this beach are very small and perfect for small children, but the entrance to the sea is not very shallow so there are better beaches from small children in the town of Omis. The beach is oriented towards southwest and receives the sun whole day. There is no parking in vicinity, so people usually access it on foot. Further to the east beach Brzet is located, with many restaurants and bars in the vicinity. From beach Slavinj to the west stretches 200 metres long of rocky coast that is also used for sunbathing and easy access to the sea, called "Ispod Fratara".
